Bermuda Championship: Fans will be allowed back on the course - Pro Golf Now

We may be one step closer to normalcy, as the Bermuda Championship plans on allowing a partial crowd of fans to watch the event.

It’s been a while since we have seen any fans at a PGA Tour event. The Bermuda Championship is looking to remedy that by being the first tournament since the PLAYERS back in March to allow anyone (legally) on the course to watch an event.

It’s a refreshing return, or at least a step on the right path, to normalcy when you are watching a PGA Tour event. Part of the reason that the Bermuda Championship is able to do this is the high rate of testing that they have in Bermuda and the incredibly low rate of positive tests.

Due to their testing, it could be a one-off, an exception to the rule, when it comes to allowing fans back on the course to watch them play. If not, starting with the Bermuda Championship would be a perfect time.

The reason it would be so great is that the Bermuda Championship is going to occur at the end of October, being played from October 29th through November 1st. Do you know what happens two weeks after that?

Yeah… The Masters.

It’s going to be tough trying to get prepared and in the right mental space to accept the fact that The Masters is going to be played in November. This is supposed to be the midst of football season. The National chase is taking shape in college with the NFL teams trying to lock down playoff positioning.

However, if the Bermuda Championship is any indicator, we might be able to at least have some bit of normalcy at The Masters and be able to see some fans in attendance.

Not only is it a major, but it’s also the greatest thing in the world of golf, and it really doesn’t have anything trailing it as a close second. Argue with me if you want, I don’t care. I brush off moronic arguments with ease from dealing with Seahawks bandwagon fans on a daily basis.

This is why the announcement that fans are going to be allowed on the course at the Bermuda event is wonderful news for the world of golf. It’s a step in the right direction towards seeing the best event in golf having fans in attendance. Trying to imagine the gallery around the tee box at 16, without fans… I can’t really comprehend it. Empty grandstands at 18? No thank you.

It’s not often that you can get people to agree on anything, whether inside the world of sports or outside. I think we can agree that we all want to see some semblance of fans at the Masters, and it all starts at the end of October with the Bermuda Championship.
