Bermuda Captive Conference draws record attendance in digital format - Captive International

The Bermuda Captive Conference attracted almost 900 people between September 9 – 11, a record attendance for the event.

The event drew over 200 captive insurance owners, both Bermuda-domiciled as well as those from other jurisdictions. Other attendees included risk managers, brokers, captive managers, service providers, sponsors and vendors from Fortune 500 companies.

It was the first time the conference had been held as a digital gathering, with attendees joining from over 30 countries and 6 continents, the organisers said. The conference is usually held in early June at the Fairmont Southampton, and in 2019 attracted nearly 800 attendees.

Conference organiser Brooke Dawson of The Whitfield Group said: “The virtual event was designed to look and feel like an event in Bermuda. We wanted to create a custom, visually-rich experience for attendees, helping them to feel connected to Bermuda, even if they couldn’t be there in person.”

Conference chair Leslie Robinson said the organisers had received positive feedback about the event. “We remain optimistic that Bermuda will remain open for business and look forward to welcoming everyone back in June 2021,” she added.
