The New York Yankees slugged their way to a blowout win over Cleveland ace Shane Bieber in Game 1 of their American League Wild Card Series. Now Cleveland, the No. 4 seed in the AL bracket, needs two wins in a row to keep its season alive. New York is trying to advance to the ALDS on Wednesday night.
The weather in Cleveland was an issue, however. Game 2 was delayed 43 minutes due to incoming weather, then, not long after the game started, it had to be halted because of a heavy downpour. The second delay lasted 33 minutes before the game resumed.
Cleveland eventually stretched its lead to 4-0 in that first inning. The lead lasted three innings. The Yankees loaded the bases in the fourth inning -- Carrasco walked two to end his night -- setting up Gio Urshela for the go-ahead grand slam against his former team. Giancarlo Stanton went deep earlier in the game to get the Yankees on the board.
