The NHL postseason is in full swing and Friday begins a stretch in which three Game 7s will be played over the next 24 hours. The first of those pivotal Game 7s is between the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche.
The Western Conference Semifinal series has seen all kinds of ebbs and flows since it began. The Stars came out strong out of the gate and won the first two games. In doing so, they outscored the Avalanche 10-5 and really looked like an offensive juggernaut. After taking a commanding 3-1 series lead following a 5-4 victory in Game 4, it looked like the series was over.
But then Colorado came roaring back. Similar to the Stars' two wins early in the series, the Avalanche outscored Dallas 10-4 and star forward Nathan MacKinnon recorded four points in those two wins. The Avalanche are coming off a convincing 4-1 win in Game 6 that forced Friday's winner-take-all contest. Goalie Michael Hutchinson was part of the reason why, as he stopped 27 of the 28 shots that he faced on the night.
