Eagles vs. Washington score: Live updates, game stats, highlights for Week 1 NFC East matchup - CBSSports.com

The Philadelphia Eagles could not have asked for a better first half on both sides of the ball, even if there was one blemish that led to a touchdown late in the half by Washington. Carson Wentz has shown flashes of brilliance as Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert have both the Eagles receiving touchdowns as Philadelphia heads into the half with a 17-7 lead. Wentz has showcased excellent touch on the deep ball, firing a 55-yard strike to Jalen Reagor on 3rd-and-12 that led to an Eagles field goal and a 34-yard touch pass to Goedert to put the Eagles up 17-0.

The Eagles secondary was strong against a struggling Washington offense for the majority of the half. Wentz's first interception in 191 attempts led to Washington's first touchdown of the season, a 5-yard pass from Dwayne Haskins to Logan Thomas to put Washington on the board and cut the deficit to 17-7. Terry McLaurin, who was blanketed by Darius Slay for the majority of the first half, had two catches on the scoring drive. Washington had an earlier opportunity to put points on the board in the second quarter, but Dustin Hopkins missed a 48-yard field goal.
