BAXTER — “Big Woods Big River” is an introduction to the natural history of Minnesota’s deciduous forests.
Classroom presentations, outdoor activities and field trips provide opportunities for participants to explore and learn about this biome that expands from central to southeastern Minnesota.
The 40-hour course will run Aug. 18 through Oct. 27 at the Northland Arboretum, 14250 Conservation Drive, Baxter, with weekly meet-ups and two full-day field trips.
Participants work together toward completing a capstone project. The course is designed for adult learning of skills and techniques to share knowledge or provide citizen science through Master Naturalist volunteer activities.
The course cost is $295 and includes course manuals and supplies.
To register for the course, go to minnesotamasternaturalist.org/courses. If the course cost is a hardship, fill out the scholarship application at z.umn.edu/mnatscholarship2020. After the scholarship is fully processed, you will receive a code to be entered in the online registration process. Wait until receiving the code to complete registration.
This course is planned in accordance with the University of Minnesota Extension social distancing and safety practices. Should it be necessary to suspend this in-person course, instructors are prepared to continue the course online. Instructions and training will be provided using web-based technology at that time.
