The Los Angeles Lakers bounced back after losing their first scrimmage, taking down the Orlando Magic 119-112 in the NBA bubble on Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t all celebrations though. Anthony Davis left the game after being poked in the eye and did not return. AD likely left as a precaution, so we’ll have to see if there’s any update on him. Alex Caruso, who was expected to play a bigger role at PG, struggled and fouled up swiftly after 11 minutes. Other than that, things were great for LeBron James and Co., especially J.R. Smith!
Here are some stats for each team:
LeBron James: 20 points, 7 assists
Anthony Davis: 9 points, 10 rebounds
Alex Caruso: 3 points, 2 assists
Kyle Kuzma: 25 points, 7 rebounds
JaVale McGee: 8 points, 5 rebounds
Aaron Gordon: 14 points
Nikola Vucevic: 10 points, 6 rebounds
Michael Carter-Williams: 15 points, 8 rebounds
Terrence Ross: 12 points
D.J. Augustin: 21 points, 5 assists
Takeaways
The Lakers looked much better in this scrimmage than the first one, particularly James, who was more aggressive on offense. It didn’t translate to a strong shooting performance, however, as LeBron was 6-for-15 from the field. L.A. got contributions from pretty much everyone, so it seems coach Frank Vogel is just feeling out his new-look roster to see who fits where. Dion Waiters wasn’t bad either, scoring 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field.
