Chanala Rubenfeld, co-director of Chabad of Chesterfield, is teaching a new course, “Well-Connected: It’s Not What You Know. It’s What You Do.”
Chabad of Chesterfield is launching a new course for women focused on Jewish rituals.
The course, “Well-Connected: It’s Not What You Know. It’s What You Do” explores “how while we often think that faith is a core set of beliefs surrounded by ceremony, Judaism is, in fact, less a system of belief than a system of action,” a news release states.
The seven-part program is part of the Rosh Chodesh Society, the women’s division of the Chesterfield Jewish Academy, and will take place the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m., beginning Nov. 1. The last class is May 2.
The series “examines how the dos and don’ts reveal the soul of Jewish ritual life and how each deed connects us to something far beyond ourselves. From the mysteries of the mezuzah and the kosher diet to the recitation of blessings and prayers; we will delve into the rationale, relevance, practical applications, beauty and richness of the divinely inspired real-life messages of Jewish practice,” the release states.

Participants can join online via Zoom or in person at Chesterfield Mall, with COVID-19 safety protocols in place.
The cost for the series is $99; the fee for the accompanying book is $20. A light dinner will be served at the classes.
