Entering the fourth quarter of Saturday night's SEC on CBS showdown between Texas A&M and No. 1 Alabama, there is still plenty to be decided with the homestanding Aggies leading 31-24. The Crimson Tide roared back from a 14-point halftime deficit in the third quarter and were in position to potentially tie the game as the final period, but the Aggies have shown more toughness tonight than they have all season.
Alabama gained some momentum when Ja'Corey Brooks blocked a punt. Mwikuta King fell on it in the end zone to bring the Crimson Tide within 24-17 at the 8:18 mark of the third quarter. However, Texas A&M answered with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Devon Achane. Special teams aside, the Alabama offense came alive in the third quarter as it avoided the crushing turnovers that crippled it in the first half. Still, the Tide will need a clutch fourth quarter effort from freshman quarterback Bryce Young if they are going to remain unbeaten.
