Ninja has been defined as “a sport which involves a number of athletes competing one at a time on a set obstacle course.” Since the television show American Ninja Warrior came on air in 2007, the sport of ninja has gone global.

Ninja Nation is an obstacle course arena franchise that is making ninja more accessible to people off of the screen. With the opening of its new Murphy, Texas location, North Texans will have even more opportunities to practice ninja.

The new arena advances Ninja Nation’s goal of hosting over one million “heroes,” a.k.a. participants, as its first national charter location and second DFW location. Ninja Nation recently opened its doors in Murphy on Saturday, September 5.

The 12,100-square-foot facility was created for youth and adults of all abilities, according to its website, as Ninja Nation aims to coach skills, strength, and confidence. The space has state-of-the-art equipment for group classes, birthday parties, open gym, special events, and competitions.

Bill and Mary Jane Journey are Ninja Nation’s first franchisees, according to a statement. Their Murphy gym’s equipment physically pushes clients past their limits, which is the fitness approach behind Ninja Nation’s $1.2 million average unit volume, according to Bill Journey.

“Being a part of the Ninja Nation family is such a fun and rewarding experience,” Bill said in a statement. “There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing people come together as part of the ninja community and support each other as they learn to overcome the many fun and challenging obstacles on the course.”

Ninja Nation Founder and CEO Wayne Cavanaugh previously invested in and/or operated five companies, which have created over $5 billion in value combined. Before creating Ninja Nation, he was an investor and CEO of a healthcare and financial services IT business, according to the Ninja Nation website, which grew by over $150 million in five years.

In the new facility, Ninja Nation assures interested parties that its staff is taking safety precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic including temperature checks and increased cleanings.

Ninja Nation onboarded Tyson Faifer as its Murphy arena manager, who was the first comedian to compete on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior. He hopes to use his leadership and passion of the sport at his new job at Ninja Nation.

“I jumped at the chance to help bring this project to life,” Faifer said in a statement.
