Bermuda went down 2-0 to Jamaica in a friendly international match at the Montego Bay Sports Complex tonight.
The visiting side started the game slowly but found their pace about 15 minutes into the first half.
They had good chances on goal through Jahkari Furbert, who clipped the bar with a powerful long-range shot from just outside the area in the sixteenth minute.
Reggie Lambe also came close just three minutes later when he forced a save from Jamaica goalkeeper Akeem Chambers.
But Kyle Lightbourne’s team’s momentum faded late into the half and they were punished by Jourdaine Fletcher, who scored in the 42nd minute.
Bermuda came out the stronger team in the second half and stand in captain Cecoy Robinson threatened to equalise from a corner kick but his shot was well held by Jamaica substitute goalkeeper Dennis Taylor.
Kyle Lightbourne’s side made a number of substitutions which improved their possession, albeit ultimately sterile.
Their lack of chance creation would punish them as Kemar Beckford doubled the score in the 79th minute.
Lightbourne put out a very rotated squad hoping to gain experience for a number of young players. He will now reassess their performances on the night as they prepare for the Concacaf Nations League and Gold Cup qualifiers later this year.
