Final Score: Mets 2, Marilns 1 — Thor and not much more - Amazin' Avenue

No matter what happened in game two of the Mets-Marlins doubleheader, the story would always be Noah Syndergaard’s return to the major leagues after almost two full years. The fact that the contest was a relatively pedestrian 2-1 victory made things even easier.

Of course, Syndergaard’s two strikeouts in a scoreless inning of work will grab all the headlines, but there was a lot of manpower that went into the regulation and extra innings. The most impressive of the bunch was Trevor Williams and his four innings of one-run ball. That one run came via a Jesus Sanchez homer on Williams’ first pitch of the night.

The offense was predictably boring as the only run scored in the first eight innings by the Mets was on Kevin Pillar’s fifth inning single to score fellow *illar: Jonathan Villar. The winning run scored in the ninth was 50% James McCann’s dribbler to the mound and 50% Javy Báez dash and dive home to end the 2-1 contest in the second extra inning.
