And it's full-time in Paris
That is a consummate performance by Pcohettino's side. Gueye got them going, Messi had a moment of magic.
It's also worth a mention for the defence and Donnarruma. They kept City at bay impressively.

Sheriff have won in Madrid
I know this isn't exactly imperative to what is going on in Paris, but they'll be dancing on the streets of Tiraspol tonight.
Sheriff, founded in 1997, from Moldova, have won at the Santiago Bernabeu. Incredible.

Mahrez has a free-kick saved
89min: Riyad Mahrez takes a free-kick from a dangerous position. His left-footed effort is decent but Donnarumma is equal to it and palms it away.

City are struggling to create anything of note
85min: While I was keeping you updated with scores from elsewhere, it must be said City have created very little in the way of actual chances.
PSG have driven at goal a couple of times but failed to get a good shot or pass in. Mbappe had a cross caught by Ederson.

Incredible scenes at the Bernabeu
Sheriff have somehow gone ahead again, with less than a minute of the standard 90 to play.
Could they actually pull off one of the greatest upsets of all time?

Two goals in Portugal
It's one for each side. Porto pull one back first, before Roberto Firmino strikes for Liverpool to bring the visitors' lead back to three goals.
Scratch that – Firmino adds another to make it 5-1 to Liverpool.

GOAL! PSG 2-0 Manchester City (Lionel Messi)
73min: Okay, Lionel Messi has arrived in Paris. PSG move quickly out of their half. Verratti feeds the ball right to Messi, who charges at Laporte.
Laporte goes with him, but Messi drives forward. He plays the ball to Mbappe, who flicks it back into his path in a lovely one-two. Messi then bends the ball into the top corner, past Ederson. Superb.

It's not been Grealish's night
67min: So it's no real surprise he's come off. Phil Foden is substituted on in his place.

Close from Neymar!
63min: The Brazilian manages to get in behind the City defence. He's battling with a defender but still manages to get his shot away.
Unfortunately for him, it strikes the outside of the side netting. It's a lucky escape for City.

Goals elsewhere in the Champions League
Liverpool have added a third against Porto – and it's Mohamed Salah again.
Meanwhile, Karim Benzema has equalised from the spot against Sheriff. That's a real shame!

Not the most entertaining second-half so far
57min: This has not exactly come to life in the second-half. That said, Messi has had a couple of moments where he has started to move up the gears.
That usually means something incredible is going to happen. Watch this space.

Donnarumma nearly makes an error
50min: A tame cross comes into the PSG box. Donnarumma dives to meet it but nearly drops the ball directly at the feet of a City player.
Kimpembe gets across to mop up. He did well there, the defender.

The second-half is underway
PSG kick us off. If the game continues as it did towards the end of the first-half, you'd expect City to get a goal. PSG, though, do have that dangerous front three.
Messi has moved into the middle for PSG.

Half-time
PSG get into a couple of dangerous positions during added-time but don't manage to produce anything.
As a result, they go in a goal ahead at half-time.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have doubled their lead against Porto through Sadio Mane while Sheriff – and I think I'm doing them an injustice by not using their full name of Tiny Sheriff Tiraspol – are a goal ahead at the Bernabeu. Still. Really.

City have chances – but fail to equalise
45min: They've definitely been in the better positions since the opening goal.
A header came in from a corner, but Donnarumma was calm and collected and managed to beat it away. Hakimi also came inside to head the ball away, diving at full stretch, to prevent Grealish getting onto the ball at the back post.

Gueye gets treatment but stays on
40min: That could have been a real blow for PSG, who have relied on Gueye so far. A tackle from De Bruyne is a bit high on his ankle.
But Gueye gets treatment and looks fine to carry on.
The challenge is not a good-looking one at all. He's probably lucky not to have received more than the yellow he got.

PSG go close twice!
38min: A sweeping passing move releases Mbappe behind the City defence. He plays a nice pass to Herrera on the edge of the box, who sidefoots it at Ederson. The City keeper tips it over.
From the corner, PSG take it short. Mbappe dribbles into the box and sends a cross along the face of goal that just avoids contact. City get it clear.

City get a shot in
36min: But it's easily saved by Donnarumma. De Bruyne is fed down the right. He gets a little pocket of space and fires in a snapshot, which is parried out by the Italian.

City are definitely on top
31min: The visitors have managed to get into a number of dangerous positions in the PSG box but have not yet landed the killer blow.
Sterling miscontrolled in the box while in space after being fed a cross, in probably the best opportunity yet.

What a miss!
24min: That is absolutely incredible. A ball is crossed into the PSG box. It is initially headed against the bar by Sterling but falls perfectly to the feet of Bernardo Silva.
He strikes and – somehow – manages to crash the ball against the bar. He appeals for a penalty but, honestly, it must just be a reflex after such a bad miss. PSG get it clear and hold onto the lead.

Liverpool have gone a goal ahead against Porto
And it's no real surprise as to who got the goal in Portugal.
Mohamed Salah strikes, but it is not a classic by any stretch on the imagination. Curtis Jones hits a shot, the ball is parried out and Salah just nudges the ball into the Porto net.

Gueye has impressed so far
15min: He's not only scored – Gueye has also impressed in his defensive duties.
He just won the ball well from Mahrez in a dangerous position down the City right.

How will City respond?
11min: They've been in PSG territory more since the goal went in, having advanced twice into the area around the box. But they have not managed to create anything, with Grealish sliding the ball out of play moments ago.
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran watches on. Genuinely.

GOAL! PSG 1-0 Manchester City (Idrissa Gueye)
7min: Well, in a team full of superstars, there was only ever going to be one player to open the scoring. That's right – former Everton man Idrissa Gueye.
The ball is worked to Mbappe on the right behind the City defensive line. The France international plays a ball back along the ground. Neymar looks close to meeting it, but he swings and misses.
Instead, it drops to Gueye, who fires his shot into the top corner. What a start!

How the two teams have lined up
2min: In case you were wondering how PSG's front three have lined up, it's Messi on the right, Mbappe through the middle and Neymar on the left.
Sterling is through the middle for City, with De Bruyne advanced quite high up behind him.

The game is underway!
City kick-off and begin by dominating the ball. A pass over the top for Kyle Walker is easily collected by Donnarumma. That's probably how the pattern of play will go today.

The PSG team news – Messi starts
Starting line-up: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes, Verratti, Herrera, Gueye, Messi, Mbappe, Neymar
Substitutes: Navas, Letellier, Paredes, Icardi, Danilo, Dagba, Wijnaldum, Kurzawa, Diallo, Draxler, Kehrer, Dina Ebimbe
The big news is that Messi starts after recovering from his injury. Hakimi, at right-back, is another to keep an eye on after starring for Inter Milan last season ad PSG this campaign.

Manchester City's team news
The starting line-up: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodrigo, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Grealish
Substitutes: Steffen, Carson, Stones, Ake, Jesus, Torres, Fernandinho, Foden, McAtee, Wilson-Esbrand.
That's an interesting selection from Guardiola, who leaves Foden on the bench and appears to have picked Sterling as his main man up front.

Manchester City don’t ‘need’ to buy a striker – but how good could they be if they did?
It seems strange to talk about Manchester City’s “need” for a striker after a magnificent victory at Chelsea given how Pep Guardiola’s side showed all of the qualities that took them to the title last season with about six midfielders on the pitch, but that’s almost the point.
They clearly don’t “need” one. They didn’t really have one last season but won the Premier League and got to the Champions League final anyway, and their problems in Porto were bigger than who prowled the penalty area.
They did all of that with false nines and “1000 passes” as Guardiola calls it, and that’s exactly what they did at Stamford Bridge.
But how good could they be if they did add a striker?

How City will play the three hardest away games in world football in a week
Manchester City will need all the cherries, special pillows and meditation in their armoury over the next nine days as they face arguably the three current toughest away games in world football.
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, the champions of Europe, current Premier League leaders and the team that beat City three times at the end of last season; Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and the rest, and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who have given Pep Guardiola a real headache in recent years, particularly at Anfield.
It is a rare run of imposing fixtures and one that would stretch any top team, even one as strong as City.
Find out more below.

How did Manchester City beat Chelsea on Saturday?
For the neutral, Saturday’s clash between Chelsea and Manchester City was something of a disappointment.
Whereas we might have expected the two title favourites to take the game to one another and create an enthralling high-tempo contest, this was a slow-burning game with few clear-cut goalscoring chances.
This is a perfect pre-match read ahead of tonight's game from The Athletic's Michael Cox.

Messi and Guardiola: The complex relationship between two people who won everything together
Every photographer working at the Parc des Princes will have one primary objective in tonight’s Champions League game — capturing the moment that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reunites with Paris-Saint Germain forward Lionel Messi.
“They will salute each other and hug emotionally,” says a source who knows Messi well. “Their relationship has always been good, closer at some times than others, but always good. They owe each other a lot.”
In their four seasons together at Nou Camp, Barcelona won 14 trophies — including three La Liga crowns, two Champions Leagues and two World Club Cups. Messi also firmly established himself as the best individual player in the world — his first Ballon d’Or came after his first full season under Guardiola in 2008-09, and he retained it every year they worked together from that point.
That is not to say that everything ran smoothly day to day between two such driven and complicated characters. By the time Guardiola left Barcelona in 2012, the power balance between them had shifted considerably, and it was better for both that they parted.
