Only four days remain in the 2021 MLB regular season, and the American League wild-card race is going down to the wire. Entering Thursday's action, the Yankees held a one-game lead over the Red Sox for the top spot with Boston clinging to a half-game lead over the Mariners and one-game lead over the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays face the Yankees at home Thursday, while the Red Sox visit the Orioles in Baltimore. Both games are rubber games. The Mariners are idle Thursday.
The big head-to-head matchup here is in Toronto, of course. The pitching matchup is excellent, too, with Cy Young favorite Robbie Ray (13-6, 2.68 ERA) facing two-time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber (5-3, 3.82 ERA). Ray has faced the Yankees twice this season but not since May 27. He's allowed seven runs in 9 2/3 innings against New York. Kluber has faced the Blue Jays three times, but also not since May. He allowed seven runs in 11 innings in those starts and couldn't pitch beyond the fourth inning in any of them.
Here's are the AL wild-card standings entering Thursday night, as well as key games on the schedule.

2. Red Sox: 89-69
