Tropical Storm Paulette remained near hurricane strength on Saturday morning while tracking steadily closer to Bermuda.
The National Hurricane Center said Paulette could become a hurricane today, and it could pass near Bermuda by Sunday night.
Forecasters were also tracking Tropical Storm Rene, which is no threat to land, Tropical Depression 19, which is poised to move into the Gulf of Mexico and toward the northern Gulf Coast, and three other tropical waves as of Saturday.
A hurricane and a tropical storm watch remained in effect for Bermuda on Saturday morning in anticipation of Paulette.
As of 7 a.m. CDT Saturday, Tropical Storm Paulette was located 590 miles southeast of Bermuda and was moving northwest at 16 mph.

Tropical Storm Paulette could become a hurricane later today and is headed in the direction of Bermuda, where hurricane and tropical storm watches are in effect.
Paulette had winds of 70 mph, just 4 mph below the threshold for a hurricane.
Paulette is expected to move near Bermuda Sunday night and Monday and could bring 2 to 4 inches of rain to the island, along with wind gusts up to hurricane force and large waves.
Farther to the east is Tropical Storm Rene.
As of 4 a.m. CDT Saturday, Rene was located about 1,300 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and was moving northwest at 14 mph.

Tropical Storm Rene is no threat to land.
Rene was originally forecast to become a hurricane but has remained a weak tropical storm.
The hurricane center said Rene isn’t expected to strengthen and will weaken early next week.
Then there is Tropical Depression 19, which could become Tropical Storm Sally today.
TD 19 was poised to move into the Gulf of Mexico this morning after crossing over South Florida overnight.
It is expected to strengthen and track to the northwest and reach the northern Gulf Coast by Tuesday, possibly near hurricane strength.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for part of the Florida Panhandle, and more watches may be coming later today for more of the Gulf Coast.
As of 7 a.m. CDT Saturday, Tropical Depression 19 was located about 55 miles southeast of Naples, Fla., and was moving west at 9 mph.

Tropical Depression 19 is crossing over South Florida on Saturday morning and heading toward the Gulf of Mexico. It could make landfall anywhere from southeastern Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle next week.
The depression had winds of 35 mph. It needs winds of 39 mph to become Tropical Storm Sally, and that should happen later today.
A tropical storm watch continues for the Florida Panhandle from the Ochlockonee River to Okaloosa/Walton county line.
Then there are the tropical waves.
One of them was in the central Atlantic and forecast to become a tropical depression in the next few days as it heads westward generally toward the Caribbean.
Another tropical wave behind that one and near the Cabo Verde Islands could also become a tropical depression early next week.
A third tropical wave was in the Gulf of Mexico and has a 30 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next five days but was headed southwest and away from the U.S.
The Atlantic hurricane season is in what is typically its busiest stretch. The season runs until Nov. 30.
