Start Planning Your Family Trip To The New St. Regis Bermuda Resort - Forbes

“That was one of the best massages I’ve ever had,” I told my husband as I soared back to the beach following an epic deep tissue treatment. “These are the best blueberries in the world,” my son marveled at breakfast the next morning before flinging a gum-ball sized berry into his mouth. “This is the softest sand ever!” My daughter exclaimed later that day as she tiptoed along St. Catherine’s Beach into its warm, teal water. The new St. Regis Bermuda Resort, situated in quiet St. George’s Parish on Bermuda’s Eastern end, has no shortage of superlatives to describe it. The island’s newest property is a far cry from the old school clubby look that has defined Bermudian style for decades (think stark white walls, sisal rugs, pastel florals and dark cedar accents). Rather, it’s attracting families, honeymooners and anyone hoping for a dose of modern luxury and world class service served beachside.

“Bermuda has long served as an exclusive destination for the global luminaries, making it the ideal location to debut a glamorous new St. Regis resort,” said George Fleck, vice president and global brand leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “The St. Regis brand’s founding family, the Astors, spent time on this beautiful island more than a century ago. Now, the House of Astor’s celebrated traditions and rituals will bring this visionary spirit, avant-garde style and impeccable service back to Bermuda.”

The result is a sprawling resort that manages to both tower majestically over its surroundings while blending into the backdrop of pristine coastline and the historic forts surrounding St. George’s. The OBMI-designed property features interiors that mirror other iconic St. Regis properties but with touches evocative of the island, itself, like pops of turquoise and sea blue juxtaposed with gilded golden accents that harken back to the Astor days. The St. Regis Bermuda Resort features 120 guest rooms, each with private balconies and sweeping views. That includes 21 suites and an ultra-luxury residential development offering two and three-bedroom residences. Our room, a nice-sized double occupancy space opened first with the bathroom, complete with a giant bathtub right in the center - a funky but wise aesthetic choice, considering how much sand we tracked inside each day.

As far as amenities go, the St. Regis Bermuda Resort offers two pools adjacent to each other - one for families and one for adults - as well as a sprawling beach complete with private cabana service. I loved how easily my kids could go from pool to beach and back again. Nothing felt hard and everything was right there. They even ran around on their own as I looked on from my chaise lounge, drink in hand. (Speaking of chaise lounges, you don’t have to wake up at dawn to secure them, and even if you did, you’d have just as great a seat as someone who didn’t. There are only good seats.) There’s also the St. Regis spa offering various body treatments, as well as a children’s club, Five Forts 18-hole golf course and 24-hour fitness center.

“With bespoke service, exquisite design, outstanding culinary venues, the historic Five Forts Golf Course, and more than a dash of glamour, we hope to inspire and contribute to the local hospitality landscape and help elevate luxury in this iconic leisure destination,” said Jan Vanhaelewyn, general manager at The St. Regis Bermuda Resort.

The resort’s food and beverage offerings include Lina, an all-day restaurant whose name is a playful nod to the nickname of St. Regis’ founding patroness, Caroline Astor. It features a light menu that leans into Bermuda’s coastal offerings and is inspired by the irreverent glamour of yachting clubs of the past. In the evening, the blackboards of BLT Steak NY share daily specials and the finest in New York-inspired steakhouse fare. At the St. Regis Bar, guests can drink up the art-deco surroundings while swilling champagne and libations like the Gates Bay Mary, a unique twist on the brand’s signature cocktail that’s named for the bay bordering the resort. It infuses native fennel, Goslings Gold Seal Rum, Outerbridge’s Original Sherry Peppers Sauce and a special spice mix created on the island.

Once the kids are in bed, guests will get to head downstairs for a glamorous evening of gaming when the resort debuts the first St. Regis casino, slated to open later this year. This 5,500 square feet space will feature a gaming floor for guests looking to roll the dice in addition to a salon privé with two private tables.

I guess that means we’ll have to come back.
