STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country took on the Cowboy Jamboree at the OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater this morning.

Isai Rodriguez dominated the competition, shattering the 8K course record with a time of 23:05.8.  Rodriguez won the race by a whopping 31 seconds and broke the current OSU Cross Country Course record previously set last year by 25 seconds.

"I just felt good today," Rodriguez said. "I kind of just wanted to compete with myself or whoever was with me. No one was really around so I just tried to stay under control and relaxed, while keeping my foot on the gas."

OSU placed three runners in the top ten, with Alex Maier placing sixth with a time of 23:45.8 and Victor Shitsama rounding out the top ten, posting a time of 23:58.6.

Ryan Schoppe, Isaiah Priddey and Ryan Smeeton were next to cross the finish line for the Cowboys with 24th, 26th and 27th place finishes, respectively. The Cowboys tied for second with Colorado on points, but won the head-to-head tiebreaker based on the top five finishers for each school.

"It was a great field today, the course was fantastic," said Cross Country and Track & Field Director Dave Smith. "I thought we handled (the heat) pretty well… Most of our guys ran better than they ever have at this course, I thought that was all good, it just turns out NAU is really good."

In the women's 6K, it was Taylor Roe leading the way for the Cowgirls, winning the race with a time of 20:25.9. Following Roe was teammate and second-place finisher Gabby Hentemann, who posted a time of 20:36.8. Only seconds behind was Molly Born with a fourth overall finish, which gave OSU three runners in the top five.

"Our team is looking really strong," Roe said. "I think we were all pretty happy with our effort today… It was fun to be with my teammates and we were just trying to run the best race for us."

Kelsey Ramirez grabbed an eighth-place finish and a time of 21:09.63. Clarissa Morales, Maddie Salek and Rilee Rigdon were next for the Cowgirls finishing 21st, 22nd and 27th, respectively.

The Cowgirls finished second in the race behind eighth-ranked Colorado in the 83rd annual Cowboy Jamboree. Unattached Cowgirl runners Stephanie Moss and Sivan Auerbach also impressed with 15th and 16th place finishes.

Looking ahead, OSU travels to Madison, Wisconsin, on October 15 for the Nuttycombe Invitational.
