AUSTIN (KXAN) — A historic space on Fourth Street in East Austin that shuttered last year will soon be revitalized into a mini-golf course and entertainment venue, while preserving the history of the site.

The former Native Hostel site, located at 807 East Fourth Street, is being reimagined as Holey Moley Golf Club by Australia-based company Funlab. Owned by private equity firm TPG Capital, Funlab has more than 40 locations in Australia and New Zealand spread across eight entertainment brands, according to the Austin Business Journal.

It’s set to open in late March.

According to a release from Funlab, Holey Moley Austin will be the first brand-built and designed location in the fully renovated, yet historically preserved, former Native Hostel building.

Holey Moley is a mini-golf concept and venue that has several Australia locations and made its U.S. debut in Denver in Sept. 2023. The Austin venue is set to be the first location opening in Texas, with a Houston location slated for late spring.

The Austin space was developed as a 500-person capacity immersive mini-golf course and bar that “turns putt-putt into a multi-sensory labyrinth of golf mayhem,” the release said. It features three courses totaling 27 holes inspired by iconic moments and pop culture.

There’s also a large outdoor space with a stage for live music, entertainment and dining featuring art commissioned by local graffiti artists as well as a private karaoke room that fits up to 15 people. Holey Moley will also be available for private event/party booking and is already allowing pre-booking.

Funlab is hiring for several positions at the Holey Moley Austin location.
