UND is getting ready to again open its university-owned golf course.

The target opening date for the 9-hole Ray Richards Golf Course is Friday, April 9, according to Kyle Myers, course manager.

Ray Richards also has partnered with The Golf Center to provide another location for the public to pick up membership player packs and other items.

Starting Wednesday, April 7, from 3-5 p.m., Ray Richards Golf Course staff will be at The Golf Center to distribute player packs and to review membership options with interested parties, according to a press release from UND. Player packs include membership cards, buddy passes, bag tags and other RRGC-branded items. Discounts on store merchandise also will be available, as part of RRGC membership status, according to the release.

For this golf season, regular adult membership is $499. Seniors and their married partners can purchase memberships with a cart for $1,000. A regular senior pass, without cart, is $404.

Additionally, the course also has disc golf available. The disc golf layout is designed to coexist with traditional golf. A disc golf season membership is $200.

Ray Richards Golf Course, which opened in April 1968, was closed in 2016 in what the university at the time called a cost-saving move after state-mandated budget cuts. The school had originally intended to sell the land to help fund the athletic department, but pushback from the Richards family in the years following the closure of the course caused the university to change course.

The course re-opened for its first full season last year.
