American Ninja Warriors face obstacles with unswerving dedication, both on and off the course. But what if the course itself faces an obstacle?
Sandy Zimmerman, a four-time veteran of the show and the first mom to hit a buzzer, was recently faced with that challenge. Years of work were put into jeopardy when her home course was partially crushed by a tree in a recent storm. The course is not only for Sandy's benefit, it’s important to her Ninja community as well.
A massive windstorm knocked a 50-foot Spruce tree on top of Sandy’s home and her backyard Ninja Warrior course, known as the “Ninja Fortress.” Thankfully, no one was injured. However, after assessing the damage, it was determined that the “Ninja Fortress” was badly in need of repair.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share this post. We have been able to salvage some things in the Ninja Fortress, thanks to the amazing work of Brett’s Tree Service, but the work ahead of us to rebuild is a BIG one.”
Sandy previously shared with us just how important that backyard course was to her. It’s where she and her family get to practice Ninja together. It’s also where Sandy helps others train to reach their Ninja dreams. She even holds competitions there. It was a blow for many people to hear the course was out of commission.
But when you love and care about your community, the community takes care of you. As soon as word got out that Sandy might need some help, help arrived.
A few days later, Sandy posted a video update about the experience and the progress. It turns out that her Ninja Warrior course may have saved her home! Also, parts of the course are salvageable and Sandy and her family are busy with the clean-up process and excited about the future of their obstacles. They even plan on using this as an opportunity to expand their backyard course.
The Zimmerman’s Ninja Fortress will rise again. Good try, windstorm. It’s going to take more than that to keep a Ninja down.
