Social Justice Bermuda march - Royal Gazette

A demonstration in support of the Black Lives Matter movement took place yesterday afternoon.

The campaign group Social Justice Bermuda arranged the march through Hamilton, beginning at Barr’s Bay Park at 4pm.

Protesters stopped at the When Voices Rise monument at City Hall, in honour of the theatre boycott that led to the island’s desegregation in 1959, and at Cabinet grounds, at the memorial of Sally Bassett, who rebelled against her enslavement.

Social Justice Bermuda is pushing for education reform, economic equity and for reforms to the criminal justice system and better access to healthcare and food.
