Epic reading: members of the Bermuda Bible Society, who finished recording the entire New Testament (Photograph supplied)
Members of a local religious charity have recorded an audio version of the entire New Testament of the Bible within a five-month period.
Beverly Daniels, president of the Bermuda Bible Society, considered the project a creative way for the organisation to spread the message of scripture to the community.
Representatives from Wycliffe Bible translators visited the island to train 14 people about the recording process, which began in February and finished earlier this month.
Ms Daniels said the free recording, which should be available online, in hard copy and via a phone app by autumn, is a “unique opportunity to hear Bermudian voices”.
She added: “We are targeting the visually impaired, people with literacy issues and senior citizens, who will be excited to hear the Bible being read in their accent.”
Established in 1955, the Bermuda Bible Society has provided Bibles to schoolchildren, prisoners, patients in the hospital and members of the Royal Bermuda Regiment.
