With their best-of-five ALDS knotted up at 1-1, the AL East-rival Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox are playing a pivotal Game 3 on Sunday at Fenway Park. In essence, the series is now a best-of-three with the Red Sox holding home-field advantage. The series will return to Tropicana Field, site of Games 1 and 2, only in the event of a decisive Game 5. Here's how to watch Game 3, which features a pitching matchup of Nathan Eovaldi vs. Drew Rasmussen.
Eovaldi was outstanding in Boston's AL Wild Card Game win over the Yankees, and overall he's got a career postseason ERA of 1.63 in 27 2/3 innings. As for Rasmussen, he was a highly effective swing man for the Rays during the regular season after coming over via trade with Milwaukee, and he's been a rotation fixture since the middle of August. He's available after not being used out of the bullpen in Games 1 and 2.
Both teams got off to quick starts, launching first-inning homers. Austin Meadows' two-run blast off Eovaldi put the Rays ahead, but Kyle Schwarber cut the Rays' lead in half with a leadoff homer over the Green Monster. The Red Sox added two more runs in the third inning to take the lead. Below you'll find our running commentary on Game 3 along with highlights and updates.
