Victoria College is accepting registrations for its Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills courses that will be held in June and July.

VICTORIA, Texas – Starting June 1 through July 1, Victoria College will offer a “Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills” course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Room 223 of the Industrial Training Center at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex, 7403 Lone Tree Road in Victoria.

In July, two more courses will be offered; one being a Monday and Wednesday class from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. starting July 5 through Aug. 4, and the other a Tuesday and Thursday class from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. starting July 6 through Aug. 5.

The course, which costs $340 and includes all course materials, is mandatory for anyone looking to register for an industrial trades job training class at VC. Financial aid and scholarships are available to those interested.

The Introductory Craft Skills course is common for all National Center for Construction and Research training. The course is also mandatory for NCCER Certification for all Level 1 courses including electrical; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; millwright; pipefitting; plumbing; power line worker; scaffolding; and welding. There is no prior experience needed.

Included in the course are: an introduction to basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprints, basic rigging, communication skills and basic employability skills. After completing the class successfully, a NCCER certification and a certificate of completion will be awarded.

Due to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, students will be required to wear a facial covering, have their temperatures taken and pass a health screening before entering the classroom. Social distancing will also be required.
