After trailing for the majority of Game 1, it was the Los Angeles Lakers who played from ahead on Tuesday night as they led the Phoenix Suns for a bulk of Game 2. In the end, the Suns made a run in the fourth quarter and ultimately took a lead but it was the Lakers that got the job done on the defensive end down the stretch to secure a 109-102 win to even the series at 1-1.
While he had a rather underwhelming performance in Game 1, Anthony Davis was a monster for Los Angeles in Game 2 as he dominated Phoenix to the tune of 34 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots. After catching plenty of criticism for his performance in Game 1, Davis more than made up for it in Game 2. For the Suns, it was Cameron Payne who chipped in 19 points and seven assists to provide Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton with help on the offensive end to keep Phoenix in the game in the second half. In the end, though, their efforts weren't enough to overcome the defending champions.
With the win, the Lakers even the series at 1-1 with the scene shifting to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4. Despite being the lower-seeded team in this matchup, it is the Lakers who now own home-court advantage after picking up a road win to start this series.
