SOUTH SALT LAKE — An infant pulled out of vehicle partially submerged in a golf course pond has died, South Salt Lake police announced Monday evening.
The infant boy’s mother, Brittanie Mae Miloshevsky, 28, is now being held in the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of child abuse homicide.
Police were called to a golf course near 3300 South and 600 West about 11:15 p.m. Sunday on a report of possible criminal mischief. They arrived to find a hole in the fence leading to the course and a minivan partially submerged in a pond.
The first arriving officer found Miloshevsky “passed out near a fence on the golf course,” according to a police affidavit. “(She) was lying on the ground and appeared to be trying to sleep.”

Miloshevsky admitted she had been drinking and had driven to the golf course, according to police.
“Officers searched the area and located the car submerged in a pond near 700 W. 3300 South. Officers checked the car and located a small child submerged in the vehicle. The child was submerged for a substantial period of time in cold water,” the affidavit states. “(Miloshevsky’s) clothing is completely soaked with water and it appears she was in the vehicle at the time it went into the water.”
Officers jumped in the water to rescue a boy, who was 18-months-old.
“An infant male child was extracted from the vehicle and transported to Primary Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The female also received medical attention,” according to a statement from South Salt Lake police Monday morning. The boy later died from his injuries.
In addition to child abuse homicide, Miloshevsky was also arrested for investigation of DUI resulting in serious injury, child endangerment and criminal mischief.
