Bermuda Is Reopening To Everyone Post-COVID-19, Even The U.S. - Forbes

Unlike other countries such as Greece that are welcoming citizens of certain countries now but citizens of the U.S. at a date still to be determined, Bermuda is flinging open the door to all on July 1st. But there are, of course, conditions: travelers need to have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of their flight, wear face masks and practice social distancing at their departure airport and in flight, upon arrival undergo another coronavirus test at the airport or their accommodation and quarantine until the results are in-between 8 and 24 hours. Temperature checks will also be done twice a day during their stay and mask wearing and social distancing should continue.

Why should travelers go through this? For all of the reasons that Bermuda has always been popular and the additional one in the current environment.  Bermuda has long had the image of being a perfect little island—actually a string of islets—of immaculate, pastel colored cottages with ridged white roofs, precise, polite British manners exhibited by citizens wearing jackets, ties and knee length shorts, world class golf courses, tennis facilities, sailing and turquoise water fringed by pink coral beaches. Located only 650 miles off the coast of North Carolina, it’s also extremely easy to get to, reached in less flying time, as their tourism officials like to promote, than New Yorkers could drive to the Hamptons.  Now with the emphasis on safety and social distancing as international travel begins to open up, Bermuda’s precision is an extra advantage in bringing visitors back.

It’s relatively easy to maintain social distancing in accommodations since a particularly Bermudian style of accommodation is the cottage colony such as longtime favorite Cambridge Beaches or cottages attached to resort hotels such as the two or three bedroom residences at Rosewood Bermuda. The newest hotel on the island, The Loren at Pink Beach, also includes in its accommodations a three bedroom private villa with its own pool and the contemporary décor of the main hotel.

For maximum privacy, though, the hotel offers The Residence, a six bedroom, 10,700 square foot estate on 5.5 acres adjacent to the resort that is probably the best on the island. Guests have use of the restaurants, spa and beach at the main hotel but with its own pool, professional kitchen for chef-created meals, outdoor dining spaces, gym, screening room and private 300 foot beach, they have no reason to budge.
