These reports were pulled from police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe) during the week of Sunday-Saturday, July 25-31.
WILMETTE
There was one incident of Illinois Department of Employment Services — later referred to as IDES — fraud filed between July 23-30 in Wilmette.
July 28
• After a taxi driver dropped off a customer in the 1000 block of Central Street, the offender reportedly only paid a portion of the fare and left the area.
July 27
• A Wilmette police officer attempted to stop a vehicle suspected in recent auto part thefts, but it fled at a high rate of speed at 3:33 a.m. in the 100 block of Skokie Road. The vehicle was not located.
KENILWORTH
July 23
• A resident is reportedly out $15,000 after an unknown offender accessed their Chase checking account to make multiple transactions and opened a credit card.
WINNETKA
There were three reports of IDES fraud filed between July 19-22 in Winnetka.
July 23
• Several pieces of putting sod were reportedly damaged overnight July 22-23 at the Winnetka Golf Club, 1300 Oak St. Repair costs are reported at $200.
July 15
• An unattended ring, valued at $3,600, was reported stolen between 2-3 p.m. from a workstation at The Laundry Mall, 566 Chestnut St.
GLENCOE
There was one incident of IDES fraud reported July 27 in Glencoe.
July 25
• An unknown offender(s) gained entry to a parked and locked vehicle, then stole credit cards from inside between 4-8 p.m. in the 500 block of Grove Street. There were no signs of forced entry.
July 24
• It was reported that a ring, valued at $10,470, was stolen between June 19-26 from a residence in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue.
July 23
• A street sign from the intersection of Lakeside Terrace and Dell Place was reported stolen. The sign was valued at $250.
NORTHFIELD
July 22
• A generator and several battery chargers were reported stolen overnight July 21-22 from an attached garage in the 300 block of Eaton Street.
