As an official host of the SailGP Bermuda Grand Prix, the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club (a Fairmont-managed hotel) is offering an exclusive SailGP VIP Package from April 22-26, 2021. The Bermuda Grand Prix kicks off the eight-race second season of SailGP. Its eight teams—Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, and the United States—all race F50 catamarans, which exceed speeds of 50 knots (nearly 60 mph). Established in 2018 by Oracle founder Larry Ellison and America’s Cup veteran Russell Coutts, the elite contest culminates in a winner-takes-all $1 million prize—which in 2019 went to the Australian team, helmed by Olympic gold medalist and America’s Cup winner, Tom Slingsby. Season 2, initially scheduled for 2020, was postponed due to the pandemic; after additional races in Italy, England, Denmark, Spain, France, and New Zealand, the 2021-2022 season will conclude with the United States Grand Prix in San Francisco, scheduled for March 26-27, 2022.
