No. 3 Michigan got off to a slow start but holds a narrow lead against No. 9 Iowa, carrying a 32-29 advantage as both teams head to the locker room. It's not the quite the offensive explosion that some expected given the matchup between two of the most efficient teams in the country, but that's as much a credit to the defensive effort to limit easy buckets as the below average shooting on display through 20 minutes.
Luka Garza has seven points on just 3-for-11 shooting as 3-point specialists CJ Fredrick and Jordan Bohannon hold the Iowa team-highs with nine points each. The Hawkeyes entered the game with improved defense as one of the biggest storylines around the recent four-game winning streak, and while that was on display in the beginning of the first half, Michigan was able to turn the tide late going 5-of-6 from the field heading into halftime. A big part of Michigan's offensive effort was the offensive glass, pulling down 10 rebounds and converting them into 9 second-chance points. Iowa, on the other hand, had just two offensive rebounds and zero second-chance points.
