The Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medal match has gone into extra time with Brazil now 2-1 ahead against Spain in Yokohama on Saturday. Matheus Cunha's strike on the stroke of the break was cancelled out by Mikel Oyarzabal's second half effort before Malcom hit La Rojita on the counter in extra time.
Richarlison's missed first half penalty was a big wasted chance for the previous winners at International Stadium Yokohama, but they might now emerge unscathed thanks to Malcom.
Both made it through narrow semifinals earlier in the week. Brazil are defending champions from 2016 and can join Argentina as only the second nation to ever win back-to-back golds while Spain were winners in 1992 and silver medallists in 2000.
In the bronze match on Friday, Mexico blew hosts Japan away 3-1 in Saitama to deny Samurai Blue a first-ever soccer medal while Richarlison (five) has a two-goal cushion in the scoring charts ahead of Rafa Mir (three) coming into this one.
Take a break from speculation over Lionel Messi's future and keep up with the latest from International Stadium Yokohama here. Also, read our how to watch guide if you wish to tune in over breakfast (or lunch) and you can always stream the match live at fuboTV (try for free)!
