The American League Championship Series will be continue from San Diego's Petco Park on Tuesday night with Game 3. The Rays bring in a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven bout, thanks to stranding so many Astros runners over the course of the first two games. The Astros have completely missed the "big hit." The Rays have scored just six runs, five of which came on homers, but they got a big two-out RBI single in Game 1 and a three-run homer in Game 2 as the difference-makers.
The Astros send Jose Urquidy to the mound in Game 3. He was battered by the A's in the ALDS for four runs (all homers) in 4 1/3 innings. He previously had good success in the postseason, however (1.26 ERA in 14 1/3 innings) and is coming off a good regular season (2.73 ERA in 29 2/3 IP). The Rays are starting lefty Ryan Yarbrough. He piggybacked an opener for five innings in the ALDS, allowing two runs on six hits in five innings. In the regular season, he pitched to a 3.56 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 55 2/3 innings.
In looking at the series on the whole, the Astros could sure use a win here. Teams starting 0-3 in MLB playoff series are 1-37 in series, historically. Follow along below with live updates, highlights, analysis and more.
