Bermuda To Host 2020 CARIFTA Games

Bermuda has won the bid to host the 2020 CARIFTA Games, Bermuda National Athletics Association Donna Raynor has confirmed.

Bermuda last hosted the CARIFTA Games in 2012, and also hosted them in 2004, 1980 and 1975.

When Bermuda hosted the event in 2004, it saw the start of the rise of super sprinter Usain Bolt of Jamaica who became the first junior athlete to break 20 seconds in the 200 metres, with his winning time of 19.93 set in Bermuda.

The CARIFTA Games is an annual athletics competition founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association. They were first held in 1972 and consist of track and field events in two age categories: under-17 and under-20.
