Aaron Denkins, the Bermuda Under-17 women’s coach, says his players are “focused and ready” for tonight’s Concacaf Championship opener against group B rivals Canada at the Nicaragua National Stadium.
“The mood in the camp is focused and ready,” Denkins told The Royal Gazette today. “Everyone is rested, healthy and ready to go.
“The players are just eager and ready to play while the staff are doing a good job at managing the team’s physical and mental health and expectations.”
Denkins and his colleagues have done their homework on tonight’s opponents.
“With modern technology there are no real secrets in football due to the number of televised games, and we have done as much home work as possible,” he said.
Bermuda’s match against Canada kicks off at 8.30pm and can be viewed online on the Concacaf website or on cable network FlowSports.
The United States and Costa Rica are the remaining teams in group B.
Bermuda take on the US on Sunday before closing out the group stage against Costa Rica on April 24.
Group A is made up of host side Nicaragua, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Haiti.
The top two teams from the two groups will advance to the semi-finals, after which the Concacaf champions and second and third-placed teams will qualify for the Under-17 World Cup, which is scheduled for Uruguay in November and December.
