The Bermuda Triple Challenge was held for the first time since 2020, raising approximately $30,000 for charity.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Triple Challenge, a three day obstacle course race series, was back for the first time since 2020 following the covid pandemic. The weekend was hailed as a success by organizers as over 280 participants came out to run, jump and fundraise, in order to determine who really are the fittest for charity. Roughly $30,000 was raised.
“The Bermuda Triple Challenge supports youth orientated programs of six Bermudian charities. This year’s recipient charities were: The Reading Clinic, Tomorrow’s Voices, SCARS, Raleigh Bermuda, Windreach and the Bermuda Foundation of Insurance Studies.
“The weekend kicked off in the Town of St. George with the Argus Urban Foot Race, a one mile run with 30 urban themed obstacles, including climbing over a bus.
“Saturday shifted to Warwick Camp and South Shore as the Royal Bermuda Regiment hosted the Butterfield & Vallis Island Challenge, a 5km or 10km race with 27 obstacles, including a 300 foot water slide and a trip around the Warwick Camp’s assault course.
“Sunday moved to Dockyard for the closing and the Chubb Royal Challenge, a wet and entertaining 5km and 23 obstacles seeing participants complete rope swings into the water, dunk themselves in an ice bath, and even attempt a 300ft rope traverse over water.”
Race director Jason Correia said, “It was great to get back out into the community, which was supported well by locals and all of our sponsors who made the weekend possible. We lacked strong overseas registrations with only eight, as we used to see 100 tourists fly in and join us in the years prior to covid. As a result our fundraising base was down this year.”
The spokesperson said, “The points and donations for the overall Bermuda Triple Challenge Winner are still being calculated and will follow.
“The competitive participant and team team winners are:
- Speedy Snails: Stepanka Sprincova & Krysta Dyer
- Chubb Team 2: Mark Wisniewski, Zachery Ziegler, Gianluca Guglielmucci, Benjamin Fix & William Way
- Liberty: Kurt Thomas, Olesya Kandakova, Darran Reitze & Meghan Diel
