NHL roundup: Oilers score late to defeat Blues - Reuters

2021-11-15 07:25:39 GMT+00:00 - Kailer Yamamoto scored with 27.8 seconds left to play to lift the visiting Edmonton Oilers to a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.

Leon Draisaitl had a goal and two assists for the Oilers, including the set-up on Yamamoto's game-winning goal from the slot. Connor McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ryan McLeod also scored for Edmonton.

McDavid extended his season-opening point streak to 14 games. He produced his 600th point in his 421st game, becoming the sixth-fastest NHL player to reach that milestone.

Jordan Kyrou, Robert Bortuzzo, Ivan Barbashev and Vladimir Tarasenko scored for the Blues. Robert Thomas had three assists and Pavel Buchnevich had two.

Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen stopped 35 of 39 shots to earn the victory. Blues netminder Jordan Binnington stopped 27 shots in defeat.

Bruins 5, Canadiens 2

Coyle scored twice, Charlie McAvoy also had a pair of goals for the Bruins, who have won back-to-back games and five of their last seven overall. Boston rookie goalie Jeremy Swayman recorded 27 saves to remain undefeated at home with an 8-0-0 record.

Chris Kreider scored the game-winning goal in the seventh round to cap an action-packed shootout as New York survived blowing a late lead before defeating visiting New Jersey.

Kreider scored New York's fourth goal of the shootout when he made a wide move, charged to the net and faked Devils goaltender Jonathan Bernier. Once Bernier went down, Kreider won it by lifting a backhander into the top of the net to give the Rangers their seventh straight win over the Devils.

Kaapo Kakko scored the first New York goal in the shootout after he finished off a give-and-go with Ryan Strome to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead 6:29 into the third. The teams needed overtime after Pavel Zacha scored on a rebound with 2:44 left in regulation.

Capitals 6, Penguins 1

Prior to the game, the Penguins activated superstar captain Sidney Crosby and defensemen Brian Dumoulin, Marcus Pettersson and Chad Ruhwedel from the NHL's COVID-19 protocol. Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan also returned to the bench after missing five games while being in protocol.

Flames 4, Senators 0

Sonny Milano, Adam Henrique and Sam Steel added goals for the Ducks, while Zegras also had an assist, as Anaheim has built its longest winning streak in a season since the team won 11 straight in the 2015-16 campaign. Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf had two assists to give him 999 career points, while Jakob Silfverberg added an assist in his return from a 10-day quarantine while in NHL COVID-19 protocol.
