England vs San Marino live score updates: World Cup qualification latest, team news, TV channel and more - The Athletic

England face San Marino looking to book their place at next winter's World Cup.

Their 5-0 win over Albania at Wembley on Friday night means that they only require a point to secure their place. Their closest competitors, Poland, are three points behind.

Against Albania, Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, with Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson also on the scoresheet.

San Marino are currently ranked 210th in the world. This will be England's eighth game against them — the aggregate score is 42-1. In March, England won 5-0 at Wembley.

Team news

Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher has received a maiden call-up to the England senior squad after being bumped up from the U21s.

Mason Mount, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish and Luke Shaw, meanwhile, will not journey with the side for the World Cup qualifier.

Mount and Shaw will no longer join the squad after they delayed their arrivals due to dental surgery and concussion respectively, while Henderson and Grealish will return to their clubs for further assessment on injuries and Sterling misses out due to a personal matter.
