Here is what you need to know about the courses
Victoria College is accepting registrations for its Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills classes that will be held in July.
VICTORIA, Texas – In July, Victoria College will offer two “Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills” courses in Room 223 of the Industrial Training Center at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex, located at 7403 Lone Tree Road in Victoria.
The class will be held on Monday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., starting on July 5 through Aug. 4. There will also be a Tuesday and Thursday call held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. starting July 6 through Aug. 5.
For anyone wanting to register for an industrial trades job training class at VC, this class is mandatory. The course costs $340 and includes all course materials. Financial aid and scholarships are available.
The Introductory Craft Skills course, which is common for all National Center for Construction and Research (NCCER) training, is required for NCCER Certification for all Level 1 courses including electrical; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; millwright; pipefitting; plumbing; power line worker; scaffolding; and welding. There is no prior experience necessary.
Included in the course is an introduction to basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprints, basic rigging, communication skills and basic employability skills. After successfully completing the class, NCCER certification and a certificate of completion will be awarded.
Additionally, Victoria College’s Gonzales Center will offer two sessions of the course beginning July 6 through Aug. 5 and Aug. 10 through Sept. 9.
