A top-10 matchup with NCAA Tournament seeding implications highlights a busy day in college basketball as No. 7 Ohio State hosts No. 4 Illinois on Saturday. Illinois is coming off one of the most impressive and unpredictable wins we've seen from any team all season as it handed Michigan just its second loss of the season in a 23-point victory without star guard Ayo Dosunmu. The Fighting Illini have now won 10 of 11 dating back to Jan. 19, just after their home loss to Ohio State.
Saturday afternoon it was confirmed that Dosunmu will be back in the lineup for the showdown, sporting a protecting mask to help as he recovers from the facial injury that kept him out of the last three games. That's huge news for Illinois, who got a team-high 22 points from their star guard in the first meeting with the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes are sliding in the opposite direction, entering the top-10 showdown with three straight losses. Two have come to Michigan and Michigan State in competitive games but a 73-57 blowout at the hands of Iowa put Ohio State on the edge of losing its status as a contender for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Chris Holtmann and the Buckeyes have had nearly a week to get things back on the right track and prepare for Illinois.
