Playing its first game in 23 days, No. 3 Michigan looked fine in the early-going but fell behind No. 21 Wisconsin 39-27 at halftime Sunday as the Badgers shot 53.8% from the field in the first half. Michigan went more than 13 minutes without a turnover to start the game, but the Wolverines struggled to keep pace with the hot-shooting Badgers, who flexed their defensive muscles late in the half. Michigan went more than six minutes late in the half without a made shot from the field and finished the half shooting just 34.4%. Isaiah Livers scored 13 points in the first half to lead the Wolverines, while Aleem Ford led Wisconsin with 13 as well.
Michigan won the first meeting 77-54 on Jan. 12, but that was before the Wolverines forced to put things on hold for more than three weeks. Though no men's basketball players tested positive, the entire Michigan athletic department went on pause on Jan. 23 after the discovery of a COVID-19 variant within the athletic department.
