Despite entering as 14.5-point underdogs to the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers, the Dallas Cowboys have mostly shut down an opponent they were predicted to lay down and die to. Instead, having been named starter just one day prior, Garrett Gilbert has shown both the ability to deliver the timely dime and so much-needed escapability, and was out-producing both Ben Roethlisberger and the entire Steelers running back unit going into the end of halftime. And while Gilbert was cooking, he was getting the benefit of complementary football from what's been a historically bad Cowboys defense.
Led by rookie defensive lineman Neville Gallimore and defensive end Randy Gregory, the Dallas defense is wreaking havoc on Roethlisberger and his offense. The Steelers can't get anything going on the ground or in the air, and the Cowboys are now enjoying a rare halftime lead because of it, and Pittsburgh suddenly looks like anything but a 7-0 team. Making matters worse for the Steelers is the fact Roethlisberger is laboring a bit after an awkward hit that torqued his knee, but he stayed in to finish the respective drive with much-needed touchdown throw before heading to the locker room for evaluation.
A a forced fumble by Cameron Sutton on CeeDee Lamb led to a field goal to end the half and shrink their deficit to just four points, begging the following questions: Can the Cowboys shock the world? Or will the Steelers finish waking up to stay the only undefeated team in the NFL?
