The Tampa Bay Rays will once again try to clinch the American League pennant Thursday evening at Petco Park. The Rays dropped Game 4 of the best-of-seven American League Championship Series to the Houston Astros on Wednesday (HOU 4, TB 2), though they still hold a commanding 3-1 series lead. One more win and they're in the World Series. Here's how you can watch Game 5.
Both clubs are looking at bullpen games in Game 5. There are no off days during the LDS or LCS this year, forcing teams to use their entire pitching staff rather than lean on 3-4 starters and 3-4 trusted relievers. We've seen clubs go with bullpen games and openers at times this postseason. That will happen again in Game 5. Neither the Astros nor Rays will use their Game 1 starter (Framber Valdez and Blake Snell) on short rest. Luis Garcia (0-1, 2.92 ERA) and John Curtiss (3-0, 1.80 ERA) are the scheduled Game 5 starters.
