Las Vegas police shoot man with gun near Windmill, Bermuda Road - KTNV Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reports officers have shot a man near Windmill Parkway and Bermuda Road.

Police say that the man was wanted for several violent crimes, including attempted murder. Detectives were in the process of trying to arrest the man when the incident began.

The suspect reportedly refused to come outside of a local residence on Macbrey Drive for four-and-a-half hours. A SWAT negotiator was called in but at around 9 p.m., the man opened fire on officers with a long gun.

Officers returned fire and the man was pronounced dead on scene.

The Clark County coroner will release the name of the deceased and police will identify the officers who were involved in the shooting within 48 hours per department policy.

The is the first shooting involving Las Vegas police this year.

The officers will be placed on paid administrative leave during an investigation of the shooting.
