Dear Reader,
VTDigger’s reporters are on the beat every day of the year, following up on tips and digging into issues that impact Vermonters’ lives. Investigative reporting is time-consuming and requires significant resources.
Across the state, and the country, this kind of journalism is increasingly rare. We need 100 readers to join us today. Will you be one of them?
Our reporting makes a difference. Reporter Tiffany Tan revealed in February that the sheriff of Bennington County had quietly moved to Tennessee. The story raised questions about how much time the sheriff himself was spending — and should spend — in Bennington County, fueling local debate ahead of the fall election.
Last fall, journalists Riley Robinson and Mike Dougherty went beyond the Statehouse to hear from the people who would be impacted by Vermont’s hotly debated emergency hotel housing program. In a story picked up by outlets across the state, they shared tangible examples of the 'Bermuda Triangle' of bureaucracy that confronts Vermonters experiencing poverty and homelessness. The housing program was ultimately extended through the winter into March, 2022.
Don’t stand by and let high-quality, high-impact journalism disappear before your eyes. Support our Spring Member Drive at any level and protect local news.
Our communities deserve to be served by the best journalists around. Join us today and keep VTDigger’s reporters on the beat.
