In his media availability Tuesday, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson downplayed the significance of his Thursday homecoming. He quickly shot down a question about whether he’s getting a lot of ticket requests. He even declined an opportunity to relive his five-touchdown performance in his last game at Hard Rock Stadium.
However, his answer when he was asked about the challenges of playing on a short week certainly suggested that facing the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football isn’t just a normal game for Jackson.
“I’m ready to play, especially in South Florida, for sure,” Jackson said, offering a quick smile.
Jackson went to Boynton Beach High School, which is about a 50-minute drive from the Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium. His South Florida roots are extremely important to him and he’s expected to have plenty of family, friends and long-time supporters at the game.
In 11 career prime-time starts, he’s led the Ravens to eight wins, totaled 3,172 yards, totaled 31 touchdowns and thrown only four interceptions. The stage is set for him to add to those numbers.
