This Sunday afternoon matchup just got a whole lot more interesting.
A week ago, this matchup between the Packers and Seahawks looked like it could feature Jordan Love vs. Geno Smith. Now, it's set to be a return of both Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson for a matchup of two of the NFC's best quarterbacks.
The last time these two quarterbacks met came back on Jan. 12, 2020, when the Packers beat the Seahawks 28-23 in the NFC Divisional Round.
MORE: Fact-checking Aaron Rodgers' bizarre COVID beliefs
Wilson underwent surgery on Oct. 8 to address a significant finger injury that has sidelined him for three games this season. Prior to his injury, he had been posting MVP-caliber numbers, having completed 72 percent of his passes for 1,196 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and only one interception.
In Wilson's absence, Smith has performed well. He has completed 70.5 percent of his passes for four touchdowns and no interceptions in his three games starting for Seattle, though the team has gone just 1-2 in those games.
Rodgers missed only last week's game against the Chiefs after testing positive for COVID-19. Love looked like a rookie against the Chiefs, throwing a touchdown and an interception while completing just 19-of-34 passes for 190 yards. Rodgers had positioned the Packers at 7-1 before his diagnosis as he had 1,894 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and only three picks, with a 67.1 completion percentage.
