No. 2 Alabama leads LSU 14-7 through the first half of their SEC West showdown in Tuscaloosa. LSU jumped out to a 7-0 lead after an 8-yard touchdown pass from Max Johnson to Brian Thomas Jr., but Alabama did its damage toward the end of the second quarter. Brian Robinson Jr. had a 2-yard touchdown run to cap off a 12-play, 77-yard drive for the game's first square. Crimson Tide QB Bryce Young, who is 18 of 28 for 191 and one touchdown on the night to this point, later hit John Metchie III for 8 yards with 48 seconds left in the half to give the Tide the lead heading into the break.
It was a huge turn of events late in the first half. LSU appeared to be running the clock out but needed a first down to take it to the locker room. Jayln Armour-Davis picked off Johnson on third-down, however, to set up Metchie's touchdown reception which gave the Tide the lead.
