Final score: Mets 5, Reds 4—Báez, Dom, and Drury - Amazin' Avenue

In their first game with Javier Báez in their lineup, the Mets won in dramatic fashion over the Reds, winning 5-4 in walk-off fashion.

The Mets scored first, with Jonathan Villar driving in a run on a single in the bottom of the third. But Rich Hill served up a three-run home run in the fourth and a solo home run in the fifth to give the Reds a 4-1 lead.

Báez made it a game again with a two-run home run in the sixth—one that could have been a three-run home run if Villar hadn’t gotten picked off earlier in that inning. And with the Mets’ bullpen keeping the Reds from scoring again, Dom Smith came up with a big two-out, game-tying hit in the bottom of the ninth. And after Edwin Díaz worked out of a first-and-third, no-out jam in the top of the tenth, Brandon Drury singled to lead off the inning, driving in Kevin Pillar, who had been the free runner on second base, to win the game.

Full recap to follow.
