Group G: Sweden secure first as USWNT draw

The Scandinavians confirmed their status as group winners with a straightforward 2-0 win over New Zealand in Rifu to make it nine points from a possible nine in Japan. Anna Anvegard and Madelen Janogy got the goals as Peter Gerhardsson's team eased through and the result sets up a final eight meeting with the hosts in Saitama next.

Meanwhile, the Americans and Aussies played out a stalemate in Kashima that sees both through with the U.S. getting the unenviable task of trying to stop Vivianne Miedema and the Dutch in Yokohama. For Australia, there will be an encounter with Team GB at Kashima Stadium after the British managed to finish top of Group E and that means that Sweden and the Matildas could meet again in the semifinals.

It promises to be a long and challenging road to the final for the USWNT with the Netherlands up next and then Brazil or Canada in the semis before potentially coming up against Sweden.

Group F: Maximum Miedema; Brazil lock it up

Dutch attacker Vivianne Miedema continued her fine form with two more goals in a substitute appearance that now moves her two goals clear at the top of the goal scoring charts. The Netherlands bashed China, 8-2, with Shanice van de Sanden, Lineth Beerensteyn, Lieke Martens and Victoria Pelova also scoring to move their tally for group stage goals beyond the 20 mark which also ended Chinese hopes of third-place qualification.

Zambia, however, will go no further after a 1-0 loss to an efficient Brazil ended their run with Barbra Banda's goal tally finishing on six as Andressa scored the only goal of the game. Those results set the Dutch up for that meeting with the USWNT -- a rematch of the 2019 World Cup final -- while Brazil and Canada will now go up against each other in Rifu.

Group E: GB finish top as hosts sneak in

A late and deflected Caroline Weir goal against Canada ensured that Great Britain finished top of Group E after Adriana Leon looked to have won it for Bev Priestman's side. The British now have a date with Australia in Kashima while Japan left it late to seal their place in the knockout phase, Mina Tanaka securing the hosts' quarterfinal berth with the only goal as Nadeshiko edged past Chile at Miyagi Stadium.

Next up for the Japanese are Sweden -- the only team with a 100% record coming out of the group stage.
