If nothing else, we learned two important lessons from 2020:
• You better enjoy your house, because there’s the potential for spending a whole lot of time there.
• And golf is the perfect sport for a pandemic, one in which there’s a masterful combination of activity, fresh air and social distancing.
So on the off chance we ever have to suffer through another year like the last, why not be in a place you love while having access to a game that makes you happy?
With all this in mind, we present you with a number of golf course properties currently on the market — places where you can work on your game, but also take solace after ringing up an ugly number.
Ocean Course perfection: Kiawah Island, S.C. ($7.95M)
The master bedroom is expansive, with private access to a wide covered porch overlooking The Ocean Course.
We can’t explain this masterpiece better than the folks at Kiawah Island Real Estate do:
The coastal home at 41 Ocean Course Drive offers 360 degrees of breathtaking vistas from its four stories of outdoor living spaces and heated saltwater pool, encompassing the best of Kiawah Island: stunning views of the world-renowned Ocean Course, tranquil tidal marshes, the waters of Willet Pond, and the Atlantic Ocean.
This private, wonderfully secluded estate near the eastern tip of Kiawah was the writing refuge of bestselling author Clive Cussler while he worked on novels including “Valhalla Rising.”
Not bad. This six-bedroom beauty wouldn’t be a bad place to watch the pandemic trail off. Here’s the listing in its entirety.
Dye Preserve horse paradise: Jupiter, Fla. ($13.85M)
The Dye Preserve is just steps away from this estate, which also includes an eight-stall horse barn.
If 19,000-plus square feet is enough to keep you content, take a gander at this majestic Mediterranean-inspired behemoth on a 30-acre estate lot, all of which overlooks a private four-acre fishing lake. The Dye Preserve, where there are no tee times (following the practice in some historic British and Irish clubs, members call the club to put their names down) is just a hybrid away from the property.
This listing features a heated saltwater pool, a guesthouse, an eight-stall horse barn that can easily be converted to many uses with living quarters, a riding and jumping arena, and riding trails winding through cypress and pine trees.
Not enough elbow room? No problem. A 20-acre unimproved lot adjoins this property and can be purchased for a cool $1.3M.
The Hamptons, dah-ling: Bridgehampton, N.Y. ($6.995M)
This home borders horse farms with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Golf Club.
When you just have to get out of Manhattan, why not pop out to this beauty, constructed by Jay Bialsky, one of the Hamptons’ most reputable builders.
The finished lower level comes with game rooms, a wine cellar, staff areas, a gym, and a walkout that adds another 2,500 square feet to the property, so you won’t feel so cramped. The adjacent Atlantic Golf Club is a Rees Jones design that opened in 1992 and can best be described as “links-like.” Most of the holes are framed by a stunning array of knobs, mounds and moguls that look as if they had been crafted over time by the hands of nature.

Sweeping Silverleaf vistas: Scottsdale, Ariz. ($18.75M)

Nestled in the magnificent McDowell Mountains, this estate boasts dramatic views of the Silverleaf Golf Club, designed by Tom Weiskopf and a new addition to Golfweek’s Best Private Courses List in 2020.
This was the first home built in Silverleaf to achieve LEED certification for energy efficiency. The master wing includes a retreat with separate his and her baths and dressing areas:
Her side includes a spacious dressing area with detailed custom cabinetry, a generous walk-in closet, a beautifully appointed vanity, a walk-in shower, and a soaking tub. His side includes a massage room, walk-through closet and dressing area, a full-featured vanity, an oversized shower with beautiful ceiling detail and a separate steam shower.

Chicagoland chateau: Glenview, Ill. ($2.05M)
This charming Tuscan estate with floor-to-ceiling picturesque windows, 10-foot ceilings with reclaimed-wood beams, hand-placed fieldstone fireplace with reclaimed wood mantle.
Love a good value? This home has come down $100K over the last few months.
It’s located on the 7th hole of the Tom Fazio-designed Glen Club, a staple on Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play list, this year coming in at No. 8 in the great state of Illinois.
The primary suite comes complete with an intimate fireplace, custom walk-in closet, indulgent spa-bath with bubbler tub and a private balcony hideaway to sip morning coffee as you watch the sunrise over the fairway.
All this, and you’re less than an hour from Downtown Chicago, if you catch traffic right. Here’s more on the property.
Alright, alright, alright views: Austin, Texas ($3.1M)
This home overlooks Austin Country Club, host of the WGC-Dell Match Play.
Will you see Matthew McConaughey if you buy this property, which one of fewer than 25 estate lots on the prestigious Austin Country Club, home of the WGC-Dell Match Play? Maybe.
This property features outdoor kitchen and pool with unobstructed golf course views, an open concept newly renovated chef’s kitchen with Viking appliances, en suite bathrooms, two laundry rooms, a media room, a game/bonus room and study.
And did we mention it’s in Austin, which was recently named the best city in America to live for three straight years?

A piece of *new* history: Palm Springs, Calif. ($10M)
These are the last hillside residences to be built located within walking distance to the center of Downtown Palm Springs.
The house will be new. The course is not. Situated on the historic O’Donnell Golf Club, five properties are slated to be built at Old Las Palmas Point.
The course was built by oil magnate Thomas O’Donnell, with designs beginning in 1926. O’Donnell and a friend from the petroleum industry, Capt. J. F. Lucey, laid out the course according to how far the men could hit the ball.
It’s become an iconic gathering place, although building lots have all been taken, aside from the five left in this new neighborhood.
This video of the area is pretty breathtaking and here’s a link to the listing, which only has conceptual drawings since the land has yet to be developed.
